Just Start It
There may never be a perfect day to do what you dream of. Just start it today. Others will follow.
This is the day I resolved to start this diary documenting my pursuit of full time business in speaking and my books. This evening I was at the Athens Writers meetup that happens every Tuesday with availability of people.
So in writing this, I will document my effort of getting gigs and also work on my daily word count whose consistency has been non-existent. I then intend to turn it into a book by the end of the year. I hope it turns out good.
Why today and not January 1st when all people begin new things? The new year resolutions.
I’ll do it today because January has gone and the next January is so many months away. I will not wait for that perfect day because it may never come. Today is the day.
Many people give excuses of a day not being right to start but today I will not. I will start.
Well. It’s the 13th Anthony. Won’t this be a bad day to identify with the start of your serious journey?
Who said so? Once again no. I will not use superstition to keep me from doing what is logical in the pursuit of my dreams. To have a plan and pursue it despite all opposing forces.
Ok. Forget the negatives then. Why not start it tomorrow? It will be the 14th. It’s Valentine's day. The day of love. Won’t it be great to always look back from a mountain of bliss and credit your achievements to Saint Valentine’s blessings over the love of your life? Speaking and impacting lives with your writing.
Neither gloom or bliss nor confidence or fear should make me not start documenting what could turn out to be a life-changing vocation if all goes well. To wait is to lose, action creates traction.
If ever I could bend towards the dates, let me then list this one that I have seen in my curiosity to find out more about why people talk about 13 in the way they do.
I realise that the Catholics have a traditional devotion called the Thirteen Tuesdays of St. Anthony that involves praying to the saint every Tuesday over a period of thirteen weeks. Today is Tuesday, it’s the 13th and I am Anthony. I will say a prayer and review this journey on the 13th Tuesday after today. Oh sorry again. I am not Catholic.Â
Whichever way, I want to believe that this will be a worthwhile journey.
Oh! It’s already 01:30hrs Wednesday. Am off to bed.Â
